{"bio": {"type": "/type/text", "value": "John Russell Fearn was a prolific science fiction and detective story writer who penned numerous books under a variety of pseudonyms. Each name signaled the genre in which he was working: Hugo Blayn, Spike Gordon and Dennis Clive for crime thrillers; Volstad Gridban, Vargo Statten, and Thornton Ayre for sci-fi pulp; John Slate for the detective novels featuring Maria Black; and many others. In some cases he blended sci-fi elements or, more accurately, scientific detection into his mystery novels."}, "death_date": "1960-09-18", "source_records": ["ia:othereyeswatchin0000fear", "bwb:9781846179488", "amazon:1405941464", "bwb:9781540365941", "marc:harvard_bibliographic_metadata/ab.bib.12.20150123.full.mrc:164956905:784", "marc:harvard_bibliographic_metadata/ab.bib.12.20150123.full.mrc:200222965:799", "promise:bwb_daily_pallets_2022-03-17", "marc:harvard_bibliographic_metadata/ab.bib.11.20150123.full.mrc:550609205:851", "marc:harvard_bibliographic_metadata/ab.bib.11.20150123.full.mrc:640668070:873", "marc:harvard_bibliographic_metadata/ab.bib.11.20150123.full.mrc:665706311:1142", "ia:oneagainsttime0000astr"], "photos": [14314116, 14302218], "type": {"key": "/type/author"}, "remote_ids": {"wikidata": "Q3809593", "viaf": "77704858", "isni": "000000011771573X", "gnd": "143900609"}, "alternate_names": ["Arnold Ryden", "Arthur Waterhouse", "Astron del Martia", "Brian Shaw", "Bryan Shaw", "Clem Larson", "Conrad G.
